THE RACE – AND RACISM

Over a year ago I predicted that race, and racism, would be a huge factor in the coming years.  It has gone beyond my wildest estimations as to how true that prediction was.

Yet, I got a lot of people calling me racist for even thinking such a thing.

“Just because Barack Obama is an African-American you can only think in racist terms.”

I had this type of comment on a daily basis in personal conversations and in private e-mails.

But now, only silence, from those who used to chastise me for even breaching the subject.

FIRST – THE RACE

My brother, David, was more up on Herman Cain than I was.  After all, he knows the man and also lives in Georgia – the cradle of the South.

It seems that the Southern White and Black people actually like Herman Cain.  He is not only smart, but he is really smart.

But the main problem with Herman Cain is that he does not have the money backing that Romney has.

It is my firm belief that Romney will eventually get the GOP nod.  If he does, then the paramount question will be who his running mate should be.

And that will be the deciding factor if the Republicans are to win in 2012.

Cain has been called, among other things, an Oreo.

Last time I checked, an Oreo was a chocolate cookie with a white filling.  Yes, I am aware of the racial slur it implies.

But Mr. Cain is not black on the outside and white on the inside – he is AMERICAN – through and through.

And THAT is what has the Democrats scared shitless of him.  Mr. Cain has worked himself up from the bottom.  Notice, I said WORKED.

And therein lies the problem with Black Herman Cain.  If he can do it – then ALL Americans of African Ancestry can do it.

If that is the case, then what happens to the Democratic base of Black voters.

It evaporates.  And that scares them no end.  What the Democrats have done to Americans of African Ancestry is criminal.  Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and Maxine Waters just to name a few – have lived – thrived off of racism.

Ernesto Patriota and I were slugging back a few beers the other night when he said something very profound. When we got on the subject of racism he said, in a matter-of-fact fashion that,  “If you are not white, every affront in America is perceived as racist.”

And he is right.  I had the exact same experience in Japan.  As you may, or may not know, Japan is still a very insular – and racist – society.  I learned that lesson the hard way.  But I made myself determined to work through it, settled down and began to see things in a different light – and made a lot of money working within the racism that is endemic in Japanese society.

And there is where the Democrats are running scared.

By all measures – Americans of African Ancestry are still at the bottom of the societal totem pole.  There is only one group lower in economic and social status – and that is the American Indian.

But the Black American community is still the Ghetto.  Let’s be painfully blunt here.

When people ride through the streets of Watts, South Central, Compton or Skid Row – just off of Wilshire Blvd., in Los Angeles – they still roll up their windows and lock their doors.

When I was a kid, ever time my family had to go through those sections of town the first thing my father always said was, “Roll up you windows and lock your doors – and don’t stare at anybody.”

Talk about fear.  I was scared of Black people until I went into the Army.

It was only in the Army that I was first taught by almost all Black Drill Instructors.  And they were some of the best teachers I ever had in my life – including all of my college and university “education.”

These Black soldiers had found a way to “make it” in life.  They worked hard, cussed up a blue streak, were fair with their troops, taught us respect for ourselves – and for each other – and in the process erased my inbred notions of racial prejudice.  Thanks to them I finally rid myself of that wet blanket of racism.

In fact, in my novel entitled, LAND, the character of Oscar Montgomery is based on a number of my Black instructors.  They left a lasting – and positive – impression on me to this very day.

(If you have not yet read my novel, it is still available via Amazon.com.  As a further side note, it seems that the Vietnam War is having a rebirth of interest in this country – so much so, that they are building a new “picture” memorial to all the men and women killed in that war.)

Just a thought.  Sorry for the digression.

So many people nowadays have never had that Military experience.  So when a Herman Cain comes along, tells them to straighten up and WORK for living, everybody freaks out.

Here is a Black man telling other Black people to get off their lazy (entitlement) asses and take advantage of EVERYTHING that America has to offer to anyone who is willing to work hard and get ahead.

And if that happens – then what are we going to do with the Welfare INDUSTRY that we have developed over the decades?  It will start to implode – and that is NOT what the Democrats want.

The Democrats have bullshitted the Black community into believing that their plight in life is because of WHITE racism.

Yet, along comes Herman Cain, and tells them that they have been hoodwinked by the Democrats.

Remember, the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964 by President Johnson – a Democrat.

But it never would have been possible without the help of Republicans – because the Democrats did NOT want equality for Black people, and refused to back Johnson in his effort.  Johnson turned to the Republicans – and they helped him get the Civil Rights Act passed – over the protests of the racist Democratic Party.

This is a simple matter or historical record.  Read history – it is all there.

Yet, the majority of Black people don’t even know this.

And here we are today, with most Black people STILL voting for the Democrats – and they are STILL in horrible shape economically – not to mention broken homes, 70% fatherless families, a bulging criminal population – and yes, poor social standing.

Black families that I know espouse CONSERVATIVE concepts – most are God fearing, family oriented, honest and hardworking people.  All elements of the Republican Party.

Yet, even these families believe that they are still being put upon by the white majority.

Then along comes Herman Cain, tells them that is not the case – and now comes the racism comments from all sides – but mainly from Black Democrats that have nothing to gain from him becoming President – and everything to lose.

Please remember:

Racism is Big Business in America

The crux of the whole situation is this:  Democrats want to “take care of” the Black population – so as to shore up their political base through Entitlements.

Republicans want the Black population to wake up, work for themselves – and become rich – so the tax paying public doesn’t have to pay for the Welfare State through ever-mounting Entitlement programs, that so many are now addicted to.  And to be sure, it is not only Black Americans that have bought into this Entitlement mentality.

Democrats want the Black population to depend on them, as well as other groups of “color.”

Republicans want the Black population, as well as other “minorities,” to depend upon themselves.

It is only through self-reliance that the Black population ever get out of the Black Ghetto.  They have been there since they were “freed.”

Consider this:  The Democratic Party is the oldest political party functioning in the United States.  The founders of this group – established by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison – were both SLAVE OWNERS.

Add to that mix, Andrew Johnson – a rabid bigot and racist – as Vice President to Lincoln, only because he would placate the South.  Andrew Johnson was eventually impeached.

Then there are other Democrats – Robert Byrd (KKK Wizard), George Wallace, Lester Maddox, Strom Thurmond – and a whole horde of racist bigots – ALL Democrats.

The Black population of America has been sold a HUGE bill of goods – and they even bit more on the “chump bait” when they voted for Obama – just because he was Black.

To this very day they are still being “serviced” by the Democratic Party.

And THAT, my friends, is the simple, unvarnished truth.

Once Americans of Black Ancestry start to think like Herman Cain – and act like him – they will achieve social, and financial success.  Not until then.

Remember, it was the Republican Party of Lincoln that freed the slaves.

And this has rankled the Democrats ever since – thus their continued pretending to want to “protect and help” the Black population.

It is a Democrat lie.  The sooner Americans of African Ancestry wake up to this simple fact, the better off they – and America – will be.  This holds true for all other racial minorities.

Wake up!

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., MEMORIAL

I was somewhat disappointed when I saw what happened at the MLK Memorial dedication.  In my opinion, the political rhetoric that took place was a disgrace.

Instead of restating what Dr. King stood for, they went off on more than one political bent.  It was depressing to say the least.

If they had dealt on the positive concepts of America – instead of a thinly veiled, racially implied, attack on this Nation , it would have been much more inspirational to watch.

Then again, there was only one Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  May he rest in peace.

THE CONSTITUTION

In my last newsletter, I started to reprint the United States Constitution, in sections.  I had tremendous response by readers – and I thank all of you who took the time to write.  Very much appreciated.

With that in mind, I continue today with Section 3.

I hope you enjoy reading one of the greatest documents ever written – that tries to include ALL Americans in their perrineal quest for LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.

Section. 3.The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof [Modified by Amendment XVII], for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote.

The Seats of the Senators of the first Class shall be vacated at the Expiration of the second Year, of the second Class at the Expiration of the fourth Year, and of the third Class at the Expiration of the sixth Year, so that one third may be chosen every second Year; and if Vacancies happen by Resignation, or otherwise, during the Recess of the Legislature of any State, the Executive thereof may make temporary Appointments until the next Meeting of the Legislature, which shall then fill such Vacancies [Modified by Amendment XVII].

Section. 6.The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

Next time I will continue with Section 7.

Thank you all for your time and consideration – and support.  Without you, THE AMERICAN TELEGRAPH would not exist.

Best wishes and remember – vote for REAL Change in 2012.

Having read a great many conservative articles, blogs and opinions I find very, very few who like Romney for all the reasons not to like Romney. The elite members of the GOP/Republican party are pushing Romney and Perry. They ignored Herman Cain until he started soaring in the polls and could no longer be ignored by the media. People didn’t vote for Romney the first time around and other than flip flopping on many issues, the fact remains he is a socialist – he did not say he would “repeal” Obamacare – he would issue “waivers”. I will wait and see before I will conclude Romney will win the primary – all bets are not in yet Larry!

  • Jim Simpson Says:

Right on Larry, interestingly enough Bill Cosby has been encouraging black people to pull themselves up by their proverbial boot straps for years.
Your correct, the Democratic party has encouraged minority groups of all flavors to get on the entitlement gravy train, but interestingly enough the entitlement programs have never been adequately funded, making them of little real use to those taking advantage of them. The net result is keeping those who take advantage of the programs mired in poverty, with the promise that there will be more. I know I too will be labeled racist for making this comment and that could not be farther from the truth. I have a number of very good black friends all of who are hard working, many of whom still vote Democratic. Go figure…

  • R. W. Klepinger Says:

For the life of me, I don’t understand why you argue that the election of Romney or Cain will result in a better, more just America. I just read today that Cain is substantially funded by the Koch Bros. and has several of their disciples on his team. Romney continues to pander to “all the usual suspects”. Why would any of the Republican contenders work toward compromise when we’d have McConnell again in the majority.

I’m worried one day and full of apathy the next. Enlighten me, please. Meanwhile, take a look at an op-ed I rec’d today.

  • Gerrit Kuiken Says:

Larry – I agree with the portion analyzing why blacks/minorities vote Democratic 100%! In fact – I just heard an interview of Pat Buchanan by Hannity – that was very pessimistic in that regard – saying that with minorities becoming an ever increasing percentage of the American population, unless something changes – the Republican Party might not ever win another election!

Where voters start thinking more Republican then Democrat is when they have achieved some amount of financial success – and it occurs to them that they are paying more taxes to support those that don’t work and now start to understand (and agree with) why Republicans are interested in everyone supporting themselves.

Unfortunately – the percentage of minorities getting on the dole is increasing faster than those that are becoming self-sufficient! (And the Democrats want to keep them that way!) Los Angeles is a classic example of this, and some say that watching what happens in California is a Chrystal ball of what is going to happen in the rest of the nation – by & by. Not a very optimistic scenario! And of course, Detroit is an even sadder example!

Black Columnist – Star Parker – has a very good editorial on exactly this issue and why Herman Cain is gaining traction with more and more people:

    See: http://www.urbancure.org/article.asp?id=3290

As an aside – the Constitution’s 3rd section is very confusing as written:

No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to
the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the
United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an
Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.

The way I read that – No person when elected, be an inhabitant of that state for which he shall be chosen.

Obviously – to avoid redundancy – some words have been left out – and the section should read this way:

NO PERSON SHALL BE A SENATOR who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and NO PERSON SHALL BE A SENATOR who shall
not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he
    shall be chosen.

Larry, you did an excellent job of describing race politics in America today. It should make anyone ashamed of being a Democrat, let alone voting democratic. And you are right on about Herman Cain. The liberals are scared to death that he might get the Republican nomination. It would put a serious dent in their stand on racism. Keep up the excellent work. Many of us appreciate all your efforts on keeping us informed and saying what must be said from time to time.

    Hi Larry

A propos of the election campaigns, the Daily Yomiuri re-published this cartoon from a US paper. Maybe you’ve seen it, but if you haven’t, you might enjoy it.

A guy comes up to an ultra-conservative Republican, claiming to have “the perfect Republican presidential candidate”…

“He supports amnesty for illegal immigrants” (the conservative coughs), “he’ll take action to strengthen social security” (more coughing), “his policies will drive up deficits and expand government” (coughing becomes uncontrollable), “he’ll support income redistribution through the Earned Income Tax Credit” (conservative begins to choke), “and finally, he believes in compromise in order to accomplish something” (conservative actually throws up).

Of course, it turns out to be the Gipper.

  • David Klepinger Says:

    Larry,

Thanks for another thoughtful and insightful, but always provocative (I’d have it no other way) issue of the AT. Thanks also for noting my association with Herman Cain. I first met Herman at a strategy meeting among top-level volunteers for the FairTax in Houston back in 2000. We continued to work together as volunteers here in Georgia and elsewhere for years thereafter. Herman has recently unveiled his 9-9-9 tax plan, and though there is agreement among those who have done their homework, the plan is easy to demagogue by the media and politicians in both parties, so the arrows are flying. The following is a post I have made for those who do not quite understand the sales tax (one of the 9s), which has been the most scrutinized portion of the plan:

“The fact that the American people in general, and apparently some of the GOP candidates cannot understand that the sales tax portion of 9-9-9 is a REPLACEMENT tax is just baffling to me. It replaces the payroll tax. Why is this so hard for people to grasp? Secondly, those already paying a state sales tax will continue to do so, regardless. They are completely separate. The reason for a sales tax is to broaden the tax base, so that everyone pays, not just workers, but illegal aliens, those making income under the table, and those who come from foreign countries to buy things here. What’s wrong with having foreign visitors contribute to your social security?”

The above is just to help those who want to understand 9-9-9 a little better. Those who ignore their due diligence cannot be helped, plain and simple. Education is everything when it comes to something like tax policy, so I encourage everyone to get the facts: http://www.hermancain.com/999plan

I’ll be happy to discuss any part of the plan with anyone who has questions. It is a bold plan, and it is designed to give this country the strongest economy possible, but it is different from our current tax code (which is a complete mess), so it will take some getting used to. My e-mail address is dklepinger@earthlink.net, but PLEASE make sure to read the plan at the link above before sending me any questions. Thanks again, Larry.
